Home Care

Sometimes all it takes to manage an independent lifestyle is some extra help. With the Home Care program, you have choices of services that can be delivered in the privacy of your Friendship Village residence:

Medication management
A registered nurse will visit you each week to set up the medications ordered by your doctor. The nurse also will check you for side-effects, order your re-fills and make sure you always have access to a current list of your medicines.

Medication reminders
Home care aides are available seven days a week to assist you in taking your medications on schedule.

Nursing visits
Nurses are available to carry out doctor's orders in your home. They can deliver B12 or other injections, blood glucose monitoring, blood pressure checks, professional assessments and other services that may save you a visit to the doctor's office or lab.

Bathing, dressing and personal care
Need help with personal needs, including bathing, dressing or donning TED hose? Home care aides are available every day to provide personal assistance. They also are trained to assist with certain medical needs, including glucose monitoring, collecting lab specimens, blood pressure checks or wellness checks.

Catheter or ostomy care
Acting under a doctor's orders, one of our licensed nurses can provide daily maintenance of an ostomy or equipment. We can also provide help with an in-dwelling catheter, including changing or emptying of a catheter bag.

Transport
If you could use help getting around Friendship Village, just call a home care aide. The aide will provide you with safe transport — whether by a wheelchair or accompanying you as you walk — to the Physician Center, restaurants, salon, bank, convenience store — or other Friendship Village location.
